Programs
The followings are the main ILCAN’s programs:
- Conferences (ICSoLCA, ILCAN Conference Series on LCA)
- Training (ITSoLCA, ILCAN Training Series on LCA)
- Journal (IJoLCAS , Indonesian Journal of LCA and Sustainability)
- [Indonesian life cycle inventory database platform (website)]
- Resources on LCA research in Indonesia
Resources on LCA research in Indonesia
As part of our strategy to enhance LCA research in Indonesia, ILCAN facilitates collaboration among LCA communities, and other interested parties, by identifying and outreaching available LCA-related resources (expertise, publications, inventory data, software, and others) in Indonesia. We have listed papers published in peer-reviewed journal written by authors affiliated to Indonesian institutions, including PhD dissertations published by local universities. Further details could be consulted at http://www.ilcan.or.id/sci-database/.
As an institution, ILCAN does not offer consultancy or research services, but ILCAN provides information about its members (universities, research centers, consultants, practitioners, and individual) with capacities to perform LCA-related works. In that regards, we encourage ILCAN’s members with LCA competency to share their activities and resources to be known to others for possible collaboration. Some of them are listed below:
Research Center for Chemistry – Indonesian Institute of Sciences (RCC-LIPI)
LCA research group at RCC-LIPI, equipped with licensed software and commercial database, is actively conducting research on LCA related to product and process development. Currently we are working on the LCA of soybean products (tempeh-tofu), bioethanol, biopellet, particleboard, and collaborating with universities to supervise graduate students on several other LCA topics. The group offers to establish research cooperation on suitable topics, i.e., within the areas of research interest and potentially publishable as research articles. Research areas at RCC-LIPI in general include catalyst and process technology, biomass and environmental chemistry, polymer chemistry, natural product and pharmaceutical chemistry, food and analytical chemistry (http://kimia.lipi.go.id/).
Commercial database are typically based on the cases of developed countries. They are helpful to quantify background inventory processes. In order to get an access to proper foreground inventory, we are interested in working with partners having access to primary data. The research cooperation can also be in the form of supervision for limited number of graduate students. Please contact Arief A.R. Setiawan, MEng (rcchem@mail.lipi.go.id) for further detail.
